Disaster preparedness assessment in emergency department: a cross-sectional study

INTRODUCTION : The increasing incidence of natural and non-natural disasters has become a new challenge for nurses in the emergency department (ED). efficiency health services provided to community is needed optimize disaster preparedness management by ED. This study aimed assess level assessment among Padang Indonesia. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A cross-sectional design was conducted three departments: teaching hospital, public referral hospital Fifty ED were selected using purposive sampling technique. self-administered questionnaire used measure sociodemographic nurses. Meanwhile, Emergency Preparedness Information Questionnaire (EPIQ) nurses' assessment. Data analyzed independent T-test One-way ANOVA. RESULTS: finding this indicated there no differences nursing education. However, places work, especially sub-dimension familiarity with isolation, quarantine, decontamination (p = 0.045), psychological issues 0.029), communication connectivity 0.018). CONCLUSIONS: Familiarity associated decontamination, issues, Therefore, can utilize planning disaster-based programs as an instrument adjust potential region. Furthermore, nurses’ self-efficacy increase knowledge skill.
